Buneen Group is the future we’ve been working towards.
Buneen Group is a First Peoples-led collective founded by Shawn Andrews to address one of the biggest challenges facing our communities: the systems themselves.
Across decades of working in government, education, justice, and community, Shawn saw the same story repeating, good people stuck in unsafe systems, trying to make change with no support, and too often burning out.
Buneen Group was created to change that.
What We Do:
Buneen Group exists to end Indigenous disadvantage by building culturally safe systems; systems that honour self, uplift community, and transform organisations.
We lead this work through three aligned entities:
Buneen (Consulting): cultural safety, truth-telling, and strategy
Buneen Employment: long-term job pathways and workplace change
Dreaming Futures: cultural reconnection and healing for children in care
Together, we walk with people and institutions who are ready to lead with care and accountability — from boards and governments to youth programs and workplaces.
How We Do It:
At the heart of Buneen Group is the SAFE Method, a cultural framework developed by Shawn Andrews to guide lasting systems change.
SAFE stands for:
Self – emotional and cultural wellbeing
Agency – voice and the power to act
Family – intergenerational healing and support
Community – truth-telling and cultural governance
Organisation – structural change and accountability
This method informs every engagement — from speaking and facilitation to program design and policy reform.
