One of My Best Days: Filming with Mum for Woolies & Dhuwa Coffee
Some moments in business go beyond contracts, strategy, or product launches — they become personal. For me, one of those moments was filming a Woolworths promotional video for Dhuwa Coffee, alongside my mum.
My mum has worked at Woolies for years — proudly holding down her role as a checkout supervisor. She’s always been the kind of person who leads quietly, keeps things moving, and shows up with pride in whatever she does. So when Dhuwa Coffee, a business I co-founded, launched in Woolies nationally — Mum was beaming.
She didn’t just support the brand.
She was proud to stock it in her store.
From the Checkout to the Camera
Woolworths reached out with an idea — they wanted to shoot a promotional video celebrating mum’s story and mine, through the lens of Dhuwa Coffee.
We spent two days filming, capturing my own story — where I grew up, what led to the creation of the business, and the values behind it — while also shining a light on the strength, resilience, and pride of an Aboriginal mum watching her son’s product go to market.
It wasn’t just a business milestone.
It was a celebration of family, legacy, and representation.
Why This Matters
Dhuwa Coffee isn’t just about caffeine. It’s about creating space on shelves and in people’s lives for First Nations excellence. Seeing my mum in that video — smiling, strong, and proud — reminded me exactly why we do this work.
When you grow up seeing your mum lead with dignity every day, it changes how you carry yourself in business and in life.
This shoot was one of the best days I’ve had — not just because of the cameras, but because I got to honour the woman who taught me how to show up, work hard, and stay grounded.
